Skype – you’re it!

We had a great day on Wednesday!  I just LOVE when everything clicks and works the way it is supposed to work.  So encouraging, not only for the teachers, but the kids, too.

We had a 6th classroom at SanLee that wanted to learn how to do Glogster.  While I could have taught them, I spoke to the teacher and asked if we could do a Skype call to a 7th grade classroom at West Lee and they could teach them.  She agreed and I spoke to the 7th grade teacher and she was all for it.  So, we were on!

It was fabulous!  I ran the computer while the 6th graders sat in awe of their 7th grade “teachers”.  The 7th graders took turns teaching us the different parts of Glogster.  When the 6th graders had questions, they could ask their “teachers” in the webcam to explain.

What wonderful collaboration!  All the teaching was done by the kids.  Kid to kid teaching – it was great!

I need to thank Ms. Unangst and Mrs. Staverman for taking a giant step outside your comfort box.  It takes a lot for teachers to let go of the control reigns and go for it.  I appreciate you taking that big step.  I hope we can do more of this type of collaboration.

By, the way, check out Ms. Unangst’s class glogs.  They did a great job!

Until next time ~ Danita
