Wish List
Recently, my boss asked the county ITF’s what we would want in our “dream school”. WOW! Not, that we would get everything that we wanted, but what did we have in mind and how much would it cost.
My friend Kim and I were foaming at the mouth. What a question! Can you imagine? Our fingers were flying on the keyboards. These are some of our wishes on our list:
Laptops for every student and teacher
Quizdom in every classroom
Graphing calculators for each student
Elmo’s or document camera in each classroom
Video cameras and microphones
5th generation iPods
Camcorder for each classroom
Science probeware
Digital microscopes
Color printers
Scanner and copier per classroom
GPS unit for each student or at least a class set
Digital camera for each classroom
Wireless Accessiblility
What would you put on your wish list?
Until next time ~ Danita

What a fun question!
I’m not that familiar with the iPods; do they have any recording ability? If not, you might want to add some portable digital audio recorders for each classroom too; something really simple that students could easily take with them. I think video and audio are good for different projects.
I don’t know if it’s exactly right for the wishlist, but maybe something about control over what is blocked. The ability for a teacher to unblock a specific YouTube video for class, for example, without unblocking the whole site, would be useful.
As a former music & band teacher, I’d also add digital keyboards to your list. I actually haven’t kept up with the music technology so much in the last few years, so ask your music teachers what their dream would be. I’m sure your art teachers would like Adobe CS3 available for their students too.
