Can You Imagine?
Isn’t life funny? After I finished my lament about Bobby Petrino making so much money being a coach, I hear the news that the soccer player David Beckham will earn up to $250 million over 5 years. Let me say that again, two hundred fifty MILLION dollars! Now, I know that soccer is difficult, as I have trouble at times walking and breathing, but $250 million??
Now, just for laughs, let’s say I make $50,000 a year (I should hear a lot of snickering as I am an educator). Beckham will make 1,000 times more money than I will in 5 years. Wanna know the kicker (I can be funny even if I didn’t mean to be), he’s not supposed to be that good. I wonder how much he would have made if he was good??
I have decided after my last 2 entries, I should be nice to my students who are athletes. Can I carry your cleats to class?
